Some of our recent events and projects include "Jaycee Conversations" (leadership and personal skill development discussions), the largescale Murphy Park Enhancement Project, Friday After Work Bags Tournaments Charity Fundraisers, Central Park Dog Wash, BBQ Bash Bags Tournament @ the Fairgrounds, Cranksgiving, Fun @ Buffalo Run Golf Night, (golf night only for Jaycees and friends), historic Eggloff House Interior Demolition, highway clean-up adjacent to PioneerTown and Country Club (great opportunity to collect free golf balls for any golfer), Nothing but Nets Malaria Prevention Fundraiser, Humane Society Volunteer Night, Meals on Wheels volunteering, Food and Wine Pairing at the Frank Lloyd Wright Historic Park Inn (only remainng FLW Hotel in the World), Valentine Creations for IOOF Home & Community Therapy Center, Royal Ball Organizaing and Volunteering, and many other events and projects. One big service project we started was luggage drive for the kids at Francis Lauer Youth Services.
A new on-going individual development activity we started in summer 2016 is our bi-monthly book club. Members take turns picking a book for the group to read and then we discuss it after our regular Jaycees meeting. Visit the Mason City Jaycees Book Club Facebook group for more info. The Mason City Jaycees (affiliated with JCI Iowa/Iowa Jaycees and JCI USA) organization is a constructive action organization of young people aged 21-40 centered on promoting leadership development through volunteerism and service, as well as social and community development opportunities. We include a diverse group of North Iowa's and Mason City's young professionals who want to create positive change in our community, better ourselves, and develop new friendships Mason City.
Regular members meetings are held once a month (4th Tuesday) at 6 pm at Stampede's Bar and Grill in Mason City (1st floor, backroom). Member or not, everyone is welcome to join us! Feel free to come to a meeting and get to know our organization! Another great way to get more familiar with the Jaycees is to like our Facebook page, which we update frequently.
